Odd Bot Out is a physics-based puzzle platform game by Martin Magni where you help a small rejected robot escape a factory after it fails a standard test and is sent toward recycling. Each room gives you a different problem involving platforms, building blocks, wheels, motors, circuits, switches, bridges, or unusual machines.
What helped me most was stopping before moving Odd. Many rooms look like normal platform stages at first, but jumping or walking immediately can make the solution harder. Looking at the available objects first usually reveals what the level actually wants you to build or activate.

Odd Is Trying To Escape The Factory
The story is deliberately simple.
Odd is a little robot that does not perform like the others.
After failing a standard test, Odd is discarded and ends up heading toward the recycling system.
Your job is to help the robot escape.
That gives the puzzles a clear direction without filling the game with long story scenes.
The official game site explains that Odd must use building blocks, electricity, and physics to get through the robot factory.
Every Room Introduces A Small Problem
Odd Bot Out contains 100 puzzle rooms.
The official mobile listings and developer materials both confirm that total.
A room may ask you to:
- Build a bridge
- Activate a circuit
- Position blocks
- Use wheels or motors
- Build a simple vehicle
- Reach a switch
- Cross a gap
- Work with moving machinery
The useful habit is figuring out what the room provides before trying to move through it.
Odd Bot Out Controls
The current browser version supports several input methods.
Mouse Or Touch
Click or tap the location where Odd should move.
Keyboard
You can also use:
- WASD
- Arrow Keys
The Poki version confirms mouse, touch, WASD, and arrow-key controls.
Mozilla’s Pointer Events documentation gives useful technical background on how browsers handle mouse and touch input.
Do Not Treat Every Room Like A Normal Platform Level
This was my biggest early mistake.
I would see the exit and immediately try to walk Odd toward it.
Sometimes the level is not asking you to move yet.
It may first require you to:
- Complete a circuit
- Position a block
- Connect parts
- Build a usable route
Once I started treating each room as a puzzle first and a platform stage second, the intended solutions became easier to spot.
Building Blocks Are Functional
Blocks are not just decoration.
They can be moved or positioned to help create usable routes.
The official Odd Bot Out description specifically mentions building a bridge to cross an abyss.
That teaches an important rule early:
If the path is missing, check whether the room gives you the pieces to build it.
This idea appears repeatedly in different forms.
Electricity And Circuits Matter
Some rooms introduce electrical connections.
You may need to connect or activate a circuit before another part of the level begins working.
The official developer materials list circuits alongside motors, wheels, and other building components.
I found it easier to trace the circuit visually before touching anything.
Look for:
- What needs power
- What can connect
- Which part is currently inactive
- Whether a switch is involved
That saves random clicking.
Wheels And Motors Turn Puzzles Into Machines
Later rooms can use wheels and motors.
These let the game move beyond simple bridge building.
The puzzle may effectively ask you to create a small working machine or vehicle.
The official App Store description even mentions designing and driving an unsafe car as one of the game’s challenges.
That variety keeps the 100 rooms from feeling like repeated jumping puzzles.
The Physics Are Part Of The Solution
Objects respond to movement and gravity.
That means a solution may work in theory but fail because something was placed badly.
I found it useful to leave more room than I thought Odd needed.
A bridge that barely reaches the other side may still be awkward once the robot starts moving across it.
A slightly safer construction can be more reliable than the most compact one.
Hint Support Helps When A Room Stops Making Sense
The current browser version includes a hint function.
Poki specifically mentions hints for situations where you get stuck.
I would not use a hint immediately.
Before doing that, I usually check three things:
- Is there an object I have not interacted with?
- Is a circuit incomplete?
- Am I trying to move Odd before setting up the room?
If none of those helps, the hint becomes more useful because you already understand what part is confusing you.
Look At The Whole Room Before Moving Anything
Odd Bot Out rewards observation.
When a new room loads, I first identify:
- Odd’s starting position
- The exit
- Movable blocks
- Wheels
- Motors
- Wires or circuits
- Switches
- Gaps
- Dangerous or moving machinery
Then I decide what appears to connect those pieces.
This reduces resets because many mistakes come from moving an important object without knowing why it was placed there.
Cars Are Built As Puzzle Solutions
One memorable mechanic is vehicle construction.
You are not selecting a finished car from a menu.
Instead, certain rooms give you parts that need to work together.
The developer’s official press materials specifically mention building a custom mechanical car as part of the escape.
This makes those rooms feel different from a standard driving game.
The vehicle itself is part of the puzzle.
Some Solutions Look Strange But Still Work
Odd Bot Out does not always demand an elegant engineering solution.
If your bridge holds, your circuit activates, or your machine gets Odd to the next area, the level can still be solved.
That gave me more freedom to experiment.
I stopped trying to make every construction look perfect and started asking a simpler question:
Does this actually solve the room?
That mindset fits the game’s playful physics much better.
The Original Game Has 100 Levels
The current App Store and Google Play versions both list 100 unique puzzle rooms.
The original press material described one opening challenge plus 97 more, which reflects an earlier presentation of the same full puzzle set.
The current storefront wording is clearer, so 100 levels is the safest figure to use.
Original Release Was In 2015
Odd Bot Out is much older than its current browser release might suggest.
The official press kit records:
February 1, 2015
as the launch date for the iOS and Android versions.
Apple’s version history also shows version 1.0 at the end of January 2015.
For Mopoga, the clearest timeline is therefore:
- Original mobile release: February 2015
- Poki browser release: November 2023
- Latest Poki update: February 2024
The Browser Version Came Much Later
Poki currently lists:
- Release: November 2023
- Latest update: February 2024
These are browser-platform dates rather than the game’s original release history.
Keeping them separate avoids making Odd Bot Out look like a game first created in 2023.
Who Created Odd Bot Out?
Odd Bot Out was created by Martin Magni.
The original first-party press kit says that Martin Magni handled:
- Design
- Code
- Art
- Music
- Sound
The game is now published under Fancade, the studio associated with Magni’s later work.
Current storefronts and Poki therefore identify the developer or publisher as Fancade, while the original game credits Martin Magni personally.
Martin Magni Later Created Fancade
Odd Bot Out is closely connected with Fancade.
Current Poki listings group it with other Fancade games such as:
- Drive Mad
- Stacktris
- Monster Tracks
- Recoil
- Speed King
- Gobble
- Mekorama
- Wall of Doom
That makes Odd Bot Out useful for understanding the style seen in many later Fancade puzzle and physics games.
Odd Bot Out And Big Tall Small
Mopoga’s Big Tall Small is another puzzle-platform game where moving immediately is often the wrong first decision.
The puzzle structure is different.
Odd Bot Out uses machinery, circuits, blocks, physics, and construction.
Big Tall Small uses three differently sized characters that need to cooperate to reach the exit.
Both reward looking at the complete level before acting.
That makes Big Tall Small a useful next option if you like compact platform puzzles built around one central idea.
Supported Devices
The current browser version supports:
- Desktop
- Phone
- Tablet
The original mobile version was also specifically designed for phones and tablets.
That makes Odd Bot Out one of the easier puzzle-platform games to move between device types because both direct movement and touch input fit the gameplay naturally.
Mobile App Update History
The mobile version has its own update history.
Google Play currently shows its latest update as December 28, 2023.
Apple’s App Store also lists version 1.12.3 on December 28, 2023, adding automatic cloud-save continuation across devices.
Those dates should not be mixed with Poki’s February 2024 browser update.
Each platform has its own release record.
It Can Be Played Offline On Android
Google Play currently labels the Android version as supporting offline play.
That applies to the installed Android app.
It should not automatically be used to describe the browser version because browser availability depends on the website and how the game is delivered.
This is another reason mobile and browser features need to stay separate.
Is Odd Bot Out Multiplayer?
Odd Bot Out is single-player.
Google Play explicitly classifies it as single-player.
You solve every room yourself rather than cooperating with another player.
Even when a room includes several moving objects or machines, one person controls the entire puzzle.
Current Odd Bot Out Rating
Poki currently lists Odd Bot Out at approximately 4.4 out of 5, based on more than 176,000 votes.
The Google Play version separately has a 4.4-star rating from more than 46,000 reviews.
Those numbers should remain separate because they come from different platforms and different player groups.
What I Would Learn First
Check The Objects Before Moving Odd
The room often contains its own solution.
Trace Circuits Before Clicking
Find what needs to connect first.
Leave Extra Space In Builds
A bridge or machine that barely works can be less reliable.
Use Failed Attempts As Information
If an object falls or a vehicle tips, adjust that part instead of rebuilding everything.
These habits helped me more than trying to move quickly.
Odd Bot Out Is Not About Fast Reactions
The controls are simple enough that speed rarely needs to be the main concern.
Most rooms reward:
- Observation
- Cause and effect
- Spatial reasoning
- Basic physics
- Experimentation
That makes Odd Bot Out feel closer to a mechanical puzzle than a traditional action platformer.
The PhET Interactive Simulations project from the University of Colorado Boulder is a useful educational reference for understanding basic physics ideas such as forces, motion, and circuits outside the game.

Its strongest identity is the combination of platform movement with small construction and machinery puzzles.
More Games From Fancade
Current Poki listings connect Fancade with:
- Drive Mad
- Stacktris
- Monster Tracks
- Recoil
- Speed King
- Gobble
- Mekorama
- Wall of Doom
Several of these also use simple controls combined with physics or puzzle-like mechanics.
What Makes Odd Bot Out Different?
Odd Bot Out rarely gives you one permanent ability and asks you to repeat it for 100 rooms.
Instead, it changes the object or problem in front of you.
One room may be about a bridge.
Another may use a circuit.
Another may require wheels or a motor.
Another may turn into a small vehicle-building problem.
For me, that variety is what keeps the game interesting.
The little robot remains simple to control, while the environment keeps asking different questions.
About Odd Bot Out
Odd Bot Out is a puzzle-platform game where a rejected robot escapes a factory through 100 rooms built around physics, electricity, building blocks, wheels, motors, and other mechanical objects.
Its controls are straightforward, but moving quickly is rarely the best strategy.
The game became much easier for me when I started studying the room before touching anything. Once you identify what the blocks, circuits, and machines are meant to do, many puzzles stop looking random and start feeling like small mechanical problems with clear solutions.
